Mentha oil lost Rs 1.90 or 0.26 per cent to Rs 728.30 per kg in futures market today on continued profit taking by traders amid sluggish demand in spot markets.

Increased arrivals at spot markets from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh also put pressure on the prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the mentha oil for delivery in July-month contract declined by Rs 1.90, or 0.26 per cent to Rs 728.30 per kg, with an open interest of 2,038 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in current-month June contract shed Rs 1.60, or 0.22 per cent to Rs 716.80 per kg, with a business turnover of 2,722 lots.

Traders said continued profit-taking by traders due to fall in demand at spot markets, against increased arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh, a major producing centre, helped menthol prices to trade lower at futures trade.
