Mentha oil prices fell by Rs 17.50 to Rs 943.10 per kg in futures trade today as traders indulged in profit booking at existing higher prices amid fall in spot market demand.

Increased arrivals from producing belts in Uttar Pradesh also put pressure on the prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in June declined by Rs 17.50, or 1.82% to Rs 943.10 per kg, with a business volume of 13 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in April shed Rs 8.90, or 0.82% to Rs 1,079 per kg, with a business turnover of 40 lots.

Mentha oil prices for delivery in May moved down by Rs 8.50, or 0.81% to Rs 1,034 per kg, with a trading volume of 26 lots.

Traders attributed the fall in mentha oil prices to profit booking by speculators due to fall in demand in the spot market.
