Mentha oil prices fell by Rs 6 to Rs 1,059.20 per kg in futures trade today as traders indulged in profit-booking at existing higher prices amid fall in spot market demand.

Adequate stocks following increased arrivals from the producing belts in Uttar Pradesh also put pressure on the prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in May declined by Rs 6, or 0.56% to Rs 1,059.20 per kg, with a business volume of 58 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in June shed Rs 3.10, or 0.32% to Rs 956 per kg, with a business turnover of 27 lots.

Mentha oil prices for delivery in April moved down by Rs 1.60, or 0.15% to Rs 1,073.40 per kg, with an open interest of 20 lots.

Traders attributed the fall in mentha oil prices to profit-taking by speculators due to fall in demand in the spot market.
