Mentha oil prices fell by Rs 2.80 to Rs 951 per kg in futures trade today as traders indulged in profit-booking at existing higher prices amid fall in demand in the spot market.

Increased arrivals from producing belts in Uttar Pradesh also put pressure on the prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in June declined by Rs 2.80, or 0.29% to Rs 951 per kg, with a business volume of 48 lots.

The oil for delivery in July eased by Rs 2.30, or 0.24% to Rs 932.40 per kg, with an open interest of five lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in May shed Rs 2.20, or 0.21% to Rs 1,043.50 per kg, with a business turnover of 71 lots.

Traders said the fall in mentha oil prices was mostly due to profit-taking by speculators amid fall in spot market demand.
