Mentha oil prices fell further by Rs 5.20, to Rs 1,089.50 per kg, in futures trade today, as traders reduced their positions ahead of monthly expiry amid subdued demand at the physical market.

Increased arrivals at the spot markets from the producing belts in Uttar Pradesh also weighed on the prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for August delivery lost Rs 5.20, or 0.47%, to Rs 1,089.50 per kg, with a business volume of 540 lots.

The July contract shed Rs 4.30, or 0.39%, to Rs 1,074 per kg, with an open interest of 201 lots.

September Mentha oil lost Rs 3.80, or 0.34%, to Rs 1,097 per kg, with an open interest of 81 lots.

Analysts said off-loading of positions ahead of July contract expiry and fall in spot markets demand mainly kept pressure on the mentha oil at futures trade here.
