Mentha oil fell by Rs 11.90 or 1.57 per cent to Rs 746 per kg in futures trade today, as traders booked profits at the existing higher levels amid fall in spot demand.
Increased arrivals in physical markets from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh also put pressure on the prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in June-month contract drifted by Rs 11.90, or 1.57 per cent to Rs 746 per kg, with an open interest of 2,930 lots.
The oil for delivery in June contract too traded lower by Rs 11.10, or 1.45 per cent to Rs 753.20 per kg, with a business turnover of 2,043 lots.
Traders said apart from profit-booking, fall in demand at spot markets against increased arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh, a major producing centre, pulled down menthol prices at futures trade.
