Mentha oil futures fall on sluggish demand

Mentha oil futures prices fell by Rs 6.20 to Rs 865.40 per kg today on continued profit booking by speculators due to sluggish demand in the spot market.

Adequate stocks position following increased arrivals in the spot market from producing regions also put pressure on mentha oil futures prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil July delivery

Fell by Rs 6.20, or 0.71%, to Rs 865.40 per kg, with a business volume of 36 lots, while June delivery declined by Rs 5.80, or 0.65%, to Rs 876 per kg, with a trade turnover of 206 lots.

Likewise, the oil for delivery in August lost Rs 3.90, or 0.44%, to Rs 868.50 per kg, with a business turnover of nine lots.

Market analysts said besides profit booking by speculators, subdued demand in the spot market also weighed on the mentha oil futures prices.
