Supported by pick-up in demand at the spot markets, mentha oil prices moved up by Rs 12.10 to Rs 1,109 per kg in futures trade today.

Restricted arrivals from the producing regions further fuelled the uptrend in mentha oil futures prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in April rose by Rs 12.10, or 1.10 per cent, to Rs 1,109 per kg, with an open interest of four lot.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in May traded higher by Rs 4.10, or 0.43 per cent, to Rs 959 per kg, with a business turnover of a single lot.

Market analysts said fresh positions created by speculators, buoyed by pick-up in domestic and export demand, pushed up mentha oil futures prices.
