Mentha oil remained firm for the second straight day with prices rising further by Rs 4.20 to Rs 1,527.80 per kg in futures trading today, as speculators enlarged their positions, supported by rising industrial demand.

Restricted arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh also influenced the mentha oil prices at futures trade.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in February added Rs 4.20, or 0.28%, to Rs 1,527 per kg in business turnover of 382 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in January edged higher by Rs 3.40, or 0.23%, to Rs 1,506.30 per kg in 846 lots.

Analysts said increased buying by speculators following rising industrial demand and less arrivals from from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh, mainly led to rise in mentha oil futures prices.
