Mentha oil prices fell by Rs 13.40 to Rs 1,102.20 per kg in futures trade today, as speculators indulged in profit-booking amid fall in demand in the physical market.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, mentha oil for September delivery fell by Rs 13.40, or 1.20%, to Rs 1,102.20 per kg, with a business volume of 201 lots.

Similarly, the oil for August delivery declined by Rs 9.10, or 0.82%, to Rs 1,098.20 per kg, with a business turnover of 725 lots.

The oil for July delivery eased by Rs 9, or 0.90%, to Rs 1,089.20 per kg, with a business turnover of 893 lots.

Market analysts said the fall in mentha oil prices was mostly due to profit-taking by speculators and a weakening trend at the spot markets.
