Mentha oil prices fell further by Rs 20 to Rs 903 per kg in futures trade today as traders indulged in profit-booking at existing higher prices amid fall in demand in the spot market.

Increased arrivals from producing belts in Uttar Pradesh also put pressure on the prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for May delivery declined by Rs 20, or 2.16% to Rs 903 per kg, with a business volume of 180 lots. Similarly, the oil for delivery in June eased by Rs 8.10, or 0.90% to Rs 890 per kg, with a business turnover of 58 lots.

Mentha oil prices for July delivery declined by Rs 6.10, or 0.69% to Rs 872 per kg, in 37 lots. The fall in mentha oil prices was mostly due to profit-taking by speculators due to fall in demand in the spot market, traders said.
