Mentha oil futures slid for the third straight day today, shedding Rs 5.80 to Rs 1,104.60 per kg on continued profit-booking by speculators amid sluggish demand in the spot market.

Adequate stock availability following increased arrivals in the spot market from producing regions also put pressure on mentha oil futures prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for April contract delivery fell by Rs 5.80, or 0.52 per cent, to Rs 1,104.60 per kg in a single lot.

Likewise, the oil for February contract delivery lost Rs 5.20, or 0.46 per cent, to Rs 1,134.60 per kg with a business turnover of two lots.

Market analysts said profit-booking by speculators driven by subdued demand in the spot markets mainly pulled down mentha prices in futures trade.
