Mentha oil gained Rs 3.50 to Rs 885 per kg in futures trading today as traders enlarged their positions on the back of pick-up in demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in August rose by Rs 3.50, or 0.40%, to Rs 885 per kg, with a business turnover of 44 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in June gained Rs 2.20, or 0.25%, to Rs 872.20 per kg in 283 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in mentha oil futures prices to fresh positions created by speculators on the back of pick-up in domestic demand from pharmaceutical units.
