Mentha oil prices soar upwards by Rs 8 to Rs 1,097.10 per kg in futures trading today, as speculators enlarged their positions triggered by a firm trend at spot markets on good demand.

Lower arrivals from producing region also influenced the mentha prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, mentha oil for February moved up by Rs 8, or 0.73 per cent to Rs 1,097.10 per kg, with an open interest of just one lot.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in December gained Rs 5.30, or 0.49 per cent to Rs 1,085.20 per kg, with a business turnover of three lots.

Market analysts said fresh buying by speculators, supported by pick up in domestic demand, helped mentha oil futures to trade at higher prices.
