Mentha oil prices moved up by Rs 4.80 to Rs 870 per kg in futures trade today mostly supported by a firming trend at the spot markets on pick-up in demand from pharmaceutical units.

Restricted arrivals from producing regions further fueled the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in June rose by Rs 4.80, or 0.55% to Rs 870 per kg, with a business turnover of 160 lots.

Similarly, the May contract traded marginally higher by 20 paise, or 0.02% to Rs 872 per kg in seven lots.

Analysts said a firming trend at the physical markets on the back of pick-up in demand from pharmaceutical units against lower arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh mainly pushed up mentha oil futures prices.
