Mentha oil prices rose by Rs six, or 0.73 per cent, to Rs 829.10 per kg in futures market today after speculators indulged in fresh buying, driven by a rise in demand at spot markets.

Restricted arrivals from the producing regions also influenced the mentha prices in futures trade.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, mentha oil for September delivery rose Rs 6, or 0.73 per cent, to Rs 829.10 per kg, with an open interest of 5,733 lots.

The oil for delivery in October-month also gained Rs 4.90, or 0.59 per cent, to Rs 840 per kg, with an open interest of 3,476 lots.

Analysts said firming trend at the physical markets on pick up in demand, influenced the mentha oil prices at futures trade here.

Fresh enquiries from pharmaceutical units also boosted the sentiment, they said.
