Mentha oil prices rose by Rs 24.80 to Rs 1,060 per kg in futures trade today as traders created fresh positions, driven by pick-up in demand at the physical market.

Also, export and domestic demand from pharmaceutical industries kept the trend firm for Mentha oil in the spot and the futures market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for July delivery rose by Rs 24.80, or 2.39%, to Rs 1,060 per kg, with a business volume of 1,889 lots.

The oil for August delivery increased by Rs 21.70, or 2.07%, to Rs 1,065.60 per kg, with a trading volume of 633 lots.

Likewise, oil for September delivery also rose by Rs 20.80, or 1.71%, to Rs 1,070 per kg, with a business volume of 168 lots.

Market analysts said pick-up in spot demand and lower arrivals at spot markets from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh mainly pushed up mentha oil prices at futures trade.
