Mentha oil prices fell by Rs 6.70, to Rs 1,087.30 per kg in futures trade today as traders indulged in profit-booking amid fall in spot market demand.

Increased arrivals in the spot market from the producing belt in Uttar Pradesh also weighed on the prices.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha prices for September delivery drifted by Rs 6.70, or 0.61%, to Rs 1,087.30 per kg, with a business volume of 83 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in July eased by Rs 6.40, or 0.59%, to Rs 1,082.10 per kg, with a business turnover of 519 lots. The mentha oil for August delivery fell by Rs 5.60, or 0.51%, to Rs 1,082.10 per kg, with a business volume of 519 lots.

Market analysts said the fall in mentha oil prices was mostly due to profit-taking by speculators and a weakening spot markets trend due to poor demand.
