Mentha oil prices rose by Rs 15.30 to Rs 1,125.40 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, largely supported by pick-up in spot demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for August delivery rose by Rs 15.30, or 1.38%, to Rs 1,125.40 per kg, with a business turnover of 702 lots.

Similarly, the oil for September delivery moved up by Rs 13.40, or 1.19%, to Rs 1,135.60 per kg, with an open interest of 187 lots.

Market analysts said fresh buying by speculators following pick-up in demand from pharmaceutical units against less arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh mainly pushed up mentha oil prices at futures trade.
