Mentha oil futures up on firm spot demand

Mentha oil futures prices rose by Rs 13.80 or 1.71 per cent to Rs 820 per kg in futures market today, as traders enlarged their positions, on good demand at physical markets.

Restricted arrivals in spot markets from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh also influenced the mentha futures prices. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha for August-month contract rose by Rs 13.80 or 1.71 per cent to Rs 820 per kg, with a business turnover of 10 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in July increased by Rs 12.10, or 1.55 per cent to Rs 795.10 per kg, with a business volume of 96 lots, while June-month contract inched up by Rs 11 or 1.41 per cent to Rs 789 per kg, with an open interest of 265 lots.

Marketmen attributed the rise in mentha oil prices at futures market to a firming trend in physical markets and heavy demand against restricted arrivals.
