Mentha oil prices gained Rs 8.70 to Rs 894 per kg in futures trading today as traders created fresh positions, driven by pick-up in spot demand.

Restricted arrivals in the physical market also influenced mentha oil futures prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in June increased by Rs 8.70, or 0.98%, to Rs 894 per kg, with a trading volume of 30 lots.

Likewise, its futures prices for delivery in April edged up by Rs 8.40, or 0.80%, to Rs 1,048.90, with an open interest of 80 lots. The oil for delivery in May rose by Rs 2.60, or 0.26%, to Rs 1,000.90 per kg, with a business turnover of nine lots.

Market analysts said fresh buying by traders following pick-up in spot demand and lower arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh mainly pushed up mentha oil futures prices.
