Mentha oil futures prices fell by Rs 8, or 0.81 per cent, to Rs 970 per kg today, as traders booked profits at existing higher levels amid fall in demand in the spot market.

Increased arrivals from producing belts in Uttar Pradesh also put pressure on the prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, mentha oil for delivery in October declined by Rs 8, or 0.81 per cent, to Rs 970 per kg, with a business volume of 1,555 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in November eased by Rs 7.90, or 0.79 per cent, to Rs 984.50 per kg, clocking in a business turnover of 1,422 lots, while December contract fell by Rs 6.60, or 0.66 per cent, to Rs 992.60 per kg in 127 lots.

The fall in mentha oil futures prices was mostly due to profit taking by speculators led by fall in demand in the spot market, traders said.
