Mentha oil prices fell by Rs 9.30 to Rs 1,030 per kg in futures trade today as traders indulged in profit-booking at existing higher prices amid fall in demand in the spot market.

Increased arrivals from the producing belts in Uttar Pradesh also put pressure on the prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in April declined by Rs 9.30, or 0.89%, to Rs 1,030 per kg, with a business volume of 346 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in May eased by Rs 3.10, or 0.31%, to Rs 995.20 per kg, with an open interest of 127 lots.

Traders said the fall in mentha oil futures was mostly due to profit-booking by speculators amid fall in demand at the spot market.
