Mentha oil rose by 0.17 per cent to Rs 843.90 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions after pick up in demand from consuming industries in the spot markets against tight supplies from producing regions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in February added Rs 1.40, or 0.17 per cent, to Rs 843.90 per kg in a business turnover of 5 lots.

The January contract edged up by 90 paise, or 0.11 per cent, to Rs 832.20 per kg in 24 lots.

Analysts said speculators created fresh positions after pick up in demand from consuming industries in the spot market against restricted arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh that led to rise in mentha oil prices at futures trade.
