Mentha oil prices gained Rs 7.80 to Rs 1,392.10 per kg in futures trade today as speculators enlarged positions, tracking a better trend at the spot market on rising demand.

Limited arrivals from Chandousi in Uttar Pradesh supported the uptrend, traders said.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in October gained Rs 7.80, or 0.56%, to Rs 1,392.10 per kg, with a business turnover of 72 lots.

The August contract moved up by Rs 6.40, or 0.48%, to Rs 1,352 per kg, with a business turnover of 138 lots.

Marketmen said apart from a firming trend in the spot market on the back of industrial demand, tight arrivals from key producing regions led to the rise in mentha oil prices at futures market.
