Mentha oil prices were marginally up by Rs three at Rs 739.50 per kg in futures trade today on short covering by speculators, driven by pick up in demand at the spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, mentha oil for September contract gained by Rs three or 0.41 per cent, to Rs 739.50 per kg, with a trading volume of 15 lots, while August month contract gained Rs 2.50 or 0.34 per cent to Rs 732 per kg, with a trading volume of 53 lots.
Similarly, the oil for delivery in July contract traded higher by Rs 2.20 or 0.31 per cent, to Rs 707.60 per kg, with a trading volume of 331 lots.
Marketmen said short covering by speculators followed by pick up in demand, against weak supplies in the spot market mainly pushed up the mentha oil prices at futures market.
