Mentha oil futures prices rose further by Rs six to Rs 1,168 per kg today after traders created fresh positions, driven by rising demand at the spot market, amid low stocks.
Besides, expectations of lower production and rising export demand from China are expected to provide support to the prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, mentha oil for delivery in January rose by Rs 6, or 0.51 per cent, to Rs 1,168 per kg, with a business volume of 383 lots.
While delivery in February was up by Rs 5.10, or 0.43 per cent, to Rs 1,176.50 per kg, with business volume of 70 lots.
Similarly, the oil for December-month delivery surged by Rs 3.80 or 0.33 per cent, to Rs 1,147 per kg, with an open interest of 102 lots.
Market analysts said fresh positions created by speculators, supported by pick up in domestic and export demand, pushed up mentha oil futures prices.
