Mentha oil gained Rs 20.10 to Rs 1,927 per kg in futures trade today on increased demand from pharmaceutical units in the spot market.

Tight stocks positions in the physical market due to less arrivals from producing area of Chandousi in Uttar Pradesh further fuelled the uptrend in mentha oil futures.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the April contract for mentha oil jumped up by Rs 20.10, or 1.05%, to Rs 1,927 per kg, with a business turnover of 185 lots.

The February contract gained Rs 11.50, or 0.62%, to Rs 1879.50 per kg, with an open interest of 338 lots.

Analysts said increased demand from pharmaceutical units against less arrivals from producing region mainly helped mentha oil prices to extend gains for the second day at futures trade.
