Mentha oil prices rose by Rs 5 to Rs 969 per kg in future trade today as traders created fresh positions, driven by pick-up in spot demand against low stocks position.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, mentha oil for delivery in May gained Rs 5, or 0.51 per cent, to Rs 969 per kg, with a business volume of nine lots.

Mentha oil for delivery in March was up by Rs 4.70, or 0.36 per cent, to Rs 1,279.40 per kg, with a trading volume of 82 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in April surged by Rs 2.20, or 0.19 per cent, to Rs 1,118.50 per kg, with a business volume of 293 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in mentha oil futures prices to fresh positions created by speculators on the back of pick-up in domestic and export demand.
