Mentha oil futures prices fell by Rs 9.10, or 1.23 per cent, to Rs 730.10 per kg today, as speculators booked profits amid fall in demand in the physical market.

Revival of arrivals in the spot market weighed pressure on mentha oil prices in futures trade.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, mentha oil for September contract fell by Rs 9.10, or 1.23 per cent, to Rs 730.10 per kg, with a business volume of 24 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in August contract declined by Rs 8.90, or 1.22 per cent, to Rs 722.20 per kg, with a business turnover of 48 lots, while July contract eased by Rs 8, or 1.13 per cent, to Rs 697.90 per kg, with an open interest of 339 lots.

Market analysts said the fall in mentha oil prices was due to profit-taking by speculators and a weakening trend at spot market.
