Mentha oil prices fell further by Rs 16.30 to Rs 1,096.80 per kg in futures trade today, as speculators indulged in profit-booking amid a fall in demand in the physical market.

Revival of arrivals in the spot market put pressure on mentha oil prices in futures trade.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for August delivery fell by Rs 16.30, or 1.46%, to Rs 1,096.80 per kg, with a business volume of 644 lots.

Similarly, the oil for October delivery declined by Rs 15.70, or 1.39%, to Rs 1,113 per kg, with a business turnover of 27 lots. The oil prices for September delivery eased by Rs 14.30, or 1.27%, to Rs 1,107.40 per kg, with a business turnover of 281 lots.

Market analysts said the fall in mentha oil prices was mostly due to profit-taking by speculators and a weakening trend at spot market.
