Mentha oil prices rose by Rs 14.30 to Rs 1,220.60 per kg in futures trade today as speculators enlarged their positions, tracking a firm trend at spot market on strong retailers and export demand.

Sentiment improved further as tight supplies in the spot markets due to less arrivals from growing belts of Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in July rose by Rs 14.30, or 1.18%, to Rs 1,220.60 per kg, with a trading volume of 557 lots.

The August contract rose higher by Rs 13.30, or 1.08%, to Rs 1,240.30 per kg, with a business turnover of 345 lots.

Marketmen said a firming trend at the spot markets amid restricted supplies from producing regions mainly influenced mentha oil prices at futures trade here.
