Mentha oil futures prices rose by Rs 9.20 to Rs 1,180.50 per kg today, as traders created fresh positions, driven by a pick up in demand at the spot market due to rising exporters demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, mentha oil for delivery in February rose by Rs 9.20, or 0.78 per cent, to Rs 1,180.50 per kg, with a business turnover of 79 lots, while January-month delivery contract was up by Rs 8.70, or 0.74 per cent, to Rs 1,173.60 per kg, with an open interest of 131 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in March surged by Rs 8.60, or 0.74 per cent, to Rs 1,169 per kg, with an open interest of 17 lots.

Market analysts said fresh positions created by speculators, supported by pick up in domestic and export demand, pushed up mentha oil futures prices.
