Mentha oil prices gained Rs 4.90, or 0.68 per cent, to Rs 719.90 per kg in futures trade today on increased buying by traders in physical markets.

Restricted arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh and increased offtake by pharmaceutical units also supported the uptrend in futures market.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha for July-month contract rose by Rs 4.90 or 0.68 per cent to Rs 719.90 per kg, with a business turnover of 76 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in June inched up by Rs 4.60, or 0.64 per cent to Rs 716.90 per kg, with a business volume of 283 lots. May contract rose by Rs two or 0.28 per cent to Rs 703 per kg, with a business volume of 150 lots.

Marketmen said increased buying by traders, due to pick up in demand at physical markets as well as pharmaceutical units, against restricted arrivals from producing belts in Uttar Pradesh, pushed up mentha prices at futures market here.
