Mentha oil prices rose Rs 5, or 0.66 per cent, to Rs 763.60 per kg in futures market today on fresh buying by traders and strong demand in the spot market.

Increased offtake by pharmaceutical units and restricted arrivals in the physical market also influenced the trading sentiment.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for August contract rose by Rs 5, or 0.66 per cent, to Rs 763.60 per kg, with an open interest of 1,484 lots.

The oil for delivery in current-month June contract also gained Rs 3.40, or 0.47 per cent, to Rs 726.20 per kg, with an open interest of 1,834 lots.

Traders said increased domestic demand, against restricted arrivals from Chandousi in Uttar Pradesh mainly led to a rise in mentha oil prices at futures trade.
