Mentha oil maintained an upward trend for the sixth straight session with prices rising by 0.17% to Rs 871 per kg in futures market as speculators indulged in enlarging positions, driven by strong demand from consuming industries in the spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in December added Rs 1.50, or 0.17% to Rs 871 per kg in business turnover of 112 lots.
Likewise, the oil for delivery in November gained Re one, or 0.12% to Rs 858 per kg in 211 lots.
Market analysts said speculators engaged in enlarging positions on the back of strong demand from consuming industries against restricted arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh, mainly attributed persistent rise in mentha oil prices at futures trade.
