Mentha oil edged up by 0.27% to Rs 827.60 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions, supported by pick-up in spot demand from consuming industries.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in April rose by Rs 2.20, or 0.27%, to Rs 827.60 per kg in a business turnover of 143 lots.

Likewise, the oil for delivery in May traded higher by Rs 2.10, or 0.25%, to Rs 838.30 per kg in 189 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions built-up by speculators on the back of rising demand from consuming industries in the spot markets against tight supplies from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh mainly influenced mentha oil prices at futures trade.
