Mentha oil prices rose by 0.22% to Rs 1,053.10 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, mostly supported by pick-up in demand in the spot markets.

Restricted arrivals in the markets also fuelled the upside in mentha oil futures prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery April rose by Rs 2.30, or 0.22% to Rs 1,053.10 per kg, with a business turnover of two lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in May gained Re 1, or 0.10% to Rs 1,015.50 per kg, with an open interest of a single lot.

Market analysts said fresh positions created by speculators following pick-up in spot demand amid lower arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh mainly pushed up mentha oil prices at futures trade.
