Mentha oil prices moved up by 0.67% to Rs 855.70 per kg in futures market today after speculators created positions supported by a pick-up in spot demand from consuming industries.

Tight stocks position in the physical market due to less arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh also supported the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in April rose by Rs 5.70, or 0.67%, to Rs 855.70 per kg in a business turnover of 109 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in May edged higher by Rs 4.30, or 0.50%, to Rs 866.50 per kg in 19 lots.

Analysts said pick-up in demand from consuming industries against restricted supplies from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh mainly led to the rise in mentha oil prices at futures trade.
