Mentha oil up 0.84% on pick-up in demand

Mentha oil prices rose by Rs 6.20 to Rs 743.20 per kg in futures trade today on increased domestic and export demand against sluggish arrivals from producing regions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for August month delivery rose by Rs 6.20 or 0.84 per cent to Rs 743.20 per kg, with a trading volume of 459 lots.

The oil for delivery in September-month up by Rs two or 0.26 per cent to Rs 750.10 per kg, in a business volume of 137 lots, while October month contract inched up by Rs 1.60 or 0.21 per cent to Rs 760 per kg with a trading volume of 22 lots.

Traders said increased domestic and export demand, mainly pushed up the prices of mentha oil at the futures market.

They said restricted arrivals from Chandousi in Uttar Pradesh also influenced the trading sentiment.
