Mentha oil futures prices rose by Rs 20.70 to Rs 1,137 per kg in future trade today, as traders created fresh positions driven by pick-up in export as well as spot demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in April rose by Rs 20.70, or 1.85 per cent, to Rs 1,137 per kg, with a business volume of 263 lots.

Mentha oil for delivery in May rose by Rs 12.10, or 1.24 per cent to Rs 984 per kg, with a business volume of 22 lots. Similarly, the oil for delivery in March added Rs 4.10, or 0.32 per cent, to Rs 1,283.40 per kg, with an open interest of 120 lots.

Market analysts said fresh positions created by speculators on the back of pick-up in domestic and export demand influenced the mentha oil future prices.
