Mentha oil prices gained Rs 3.90, or 0.55 per cent, to Rs 705 per kg in futures trading today, as speculators created fresh positions, driven by pick up in demand at spot markets.

Restricted arrivals in the physical market also influenced the mentha oil futures prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, mentha oil for delivery in July gained 3.90, or 0.55 per cent, to Rs 705 per kg, with a trading volume of 229 lots, while September contract declined by Rs 3.70, or 0.50 per cent, to Rs 736.60, with a business volume of 12 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in August edged up by Rs 3.40, or 0.46 per cent, to Rs 729.50 per kg, with a trading volume of 45 lots.

Marketmen said fresh buying by traders followed by pick up in spot demand and lower arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh pushed up mentha oil prices at futures trade.
