Mentha oil prices gained by Rs 2.70, or 0.32 per cent, to Rs 838 per kg in futures trade today, as speculators created fresh positions driven by rising demand at spot market.

Restricted arrivals in the physical market also influenced trading sentiment in futures trading.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, mentha oil for delivery in November gained by Rs 2.70, or 0.32 per cent, to Rs 838 per kg, with a trading volume of 27 lots, while October contract edged up by Rs 1.60, or 0.19 per cent, to Rs 827.70, with a business volume of 133 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in September rose Rs 1.40, or 0.17 per cent, to Rs 817.90 per kg, with an open interest of 720 lots.

Marketmen said fresh buying by speculators following pick up in spot demand and lower arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh mainly pushed up mentha oil prices at futures trade.
