Mentha oil prices fell by Rs 8.20 to Rs 896.30 per kg in futures trade today as traders indulged in profit-booking at higher prices amid fall in spot demand.

Adequate stocks following increased arrivals from producing belts in Uttar Pradesh also put pressure on the prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for June delivery eased by Rs 8.20, or 0.90% to Rs 896.30 per kg, with a business volume of 66 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in May shed Rs 6.80, or 0.72% to Rs 937.30 per kg, with a trade volume of 51 lots. The mentha oil prices for delivery in July fell by Rs 5, or 0.56% to Rs 883.10 per kg in 12 lots.

Market analysts attributed the fall in mentha oil prices at futures trade to profit-booking by speculators and fall in demand in the spot market.
