Mentha oil prices traded higher by Rs 6.50 or 0.96 per cent at Rs 684 per kg in futures trade today on heavy buying by traders due to pick up in demand in physical markets.

Restricted arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh and increased offtake by pharmaceutical units also supported the uptrend.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha for July-month contract rose by Rs 6.50 or 0.96 per cent to Rs 684 per kg, with a business turnover of five lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in June contract inched up by Rs 5.40 or 0.79 per cent to Rs 690 per kg, with a business turnover of 93 lots, while current-month May contract up Rs 4.50 or 0.66 per cent to Rs 590.40 per kg, clocking a business volume of 315 lots.

Marketmen said, increased buying by traders due to pick up in demand in physical markets as well as pharmaceutical units against restricted arrivals from producing belts in Uttar Pradesh mainly pushed up mentha prices at futures market.
