Menthol rises on tight stocks

Menthol prices rose by 5 per kg in the national capital today owing to fresh buying support from pharma and consuming units, amid tight stocks.

Restricted supplies from producing belts also influenced the prices.

Menthol bold crystal, menthol flake and mentha oil prices rose by Rs 5 each to Rs 1,275, Rs 1,230 and Rs 1,175 per kg, respectively.

Market analysts said fresh buying support from pharma and other consuming industries against restricted arrivals from producing belts, mainly pushed up menthol prices on the wholesale chemical market here.

Ammonium chloride (50 kg) Rs 1,00-2,500, acetic acid (1 kg) Rs 44-46, ammonia bicarb (25 kg) Rs 475-525, boric acid technical (50 kg) Rs 3,400-3,800, borex granular (50 kg) Rs 1,800-2,000.

Caustic soda flake (50 kg) Rs 1,300-1,400, citric acid (50 kg) (China) Rs 3,600-4,400, citric acid deshi (50 kg) Rs 3,700-4,500, camphor slab (1 kg) Rs 400, camphor powder (1kg) Rs 390, glycerine (1 kg) Rs 110-120, hexamine (1kg) Rs 82, hydrogen peroxide (1 kg) Rs 33-35, menthol bold crystal (per kg) Rs 1,275, menthol flake (1kg) Rs 1,230 and mentha oil (1kg) Rs 1,175.
