Metal Stocks buck the trend; up between 2.5 and 4.5 %

Sterlite is leading the index with a gain of 4.2% at Rs 79.05 while Hindalco gained 2.7%

Metal stocks have bucked the trend in today's trade on the stock exchanges.
 
Shares of Sterlite Industries, Tata Steel, Hindalco and Jindal Steel are all in the green at a time when benchmark indices are over a%age point down.
 
Interestingly, not only these metal counters are trading in the positive territory, they are the top gainers in the 30-stocks Sensex too.

Sterlite is leading the index with a gain of 4.2% at Rs 79.05 while Hindalco gained 2.7% to climb back to over Rs 95 level. 
 
Tata Steel, which surprised market participants with positive Q1 results and the stock smarty bounced back from below Rs 200 level, is currently trading firm at Rs 241.8, or 2.85%.
 
Jindal Steel too is not far away and is quoted at Rs 218.95, up 2.75% at IST 1051.
