Metal stocks surge, Sensex up 30 pts

 Bajaj and Maruti have gained a per cent each to Rs 1,148 (up Rs 9) and Rs 439 (up Rs 5), respectively. While Tata Motors has moved up 1.29% (Rs 6) to Rs 438, Hero Honda is up Rs 2 at Rs 548.

L&T has advanced 2.26% (Rs 23) to Rs 1,040, while Zee has shed 1.52% (Rs 2) to Rs 155.

HDFC Bank is up a per cent (Rs 5) at Rs 538, and SBI is steady at Rs 622 - up Rs 3. ICICI Bank, however, is down a rupee at Rs 393.

ACC is up a per cent (Rs 3) at Rs 394. While Gujarat Ambuja is marginally up at Rs 445, Grasim has lost a per cent (Rs 9) to Rs 1,136.

Metal stocks have perked up on strong buying support. Southern Iron & Steel has notched up 9.94% gains (Rs 3) to Rs 29, and Navbharat Ferous has surged 9.27% (Rs 35) to Rs 416. Uttam Galva, Kalyani Steel, PSL, Madras Aluminium, Tata Sponge & Iron and Kirloskar Ferous are up in a range of 2-5%.
