MFs invest Rs 76,000 cr in debt market in Apr-Jun

Experts see increased participation from investors at work for the inflows into the debt market

Mutual fund (MF) managers pumped in nearly Rs 43,000 crore into the debt market since the beginning of June, taking the total to around Rs 76,000 crore so far in the current financial year.

Besides, the fund managers invested a net amount of Rs 7,200 crore in equity markets during the period under review.

Experts see increased participation from investors at work for the inflows into the debt market.

According to the data released by markets regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi), fund managers invested a net sum of Rs 42,724 crore in the debt market this month (till June 23).

Prior to that, the fund managers pulled out Rs 2,317 crore in May while they poured Rs 35,523 crore in the preceding month.

The latest inflow has taken the total fund mobilisation to Rs 75,930 crore in the current financial year.

A mutual fund is an investment vehicle with a pool of funds collected from investors to buy securities such as stocks, bonds, money market instruments and similar assets.
