MFs may be reined in too on debt

 With the Reserve Bank of India issuing a fiat to banks to invest in listed debt instruments and restrict their investments in unlisted debt to 20 per cent, it is expected that mutual funds too will have to follow suit.

 The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has not yet issued any directions in this regard but the general impression is that it would only be a matter of time before the required directive is issued.
